The Most Serene Republic of Autumnia

The Most Serene Republic of Autumnia is a nation at Fridgia's North Pole, which gives it a more temperate climate around the edges. It is one of the few places in Fridgia with thick forests of evergreen trees, and one of the few places where it snows.

The current leaders of Autumnia are President Calabash and Prime Minister Squash. The country is very diverse, full of not just gourds but many other types of food. Its capital, Polaris, is built on the magnetic North Pole, and New Gourd City is built on the geographic one. 

Autumnia was founded in 32 BMA, when various foods gathered together to declare a new nation, of many foods, at the very top of Fridgia. Due to its remote location and colder climate, it has had a mostly peaceful history. Its neighbor, Applia, has always been at the very least apathetic to Autumnian events. The capital started out in Gourd City, until 167 MA when it burned down. The capital was then moved to Polaris, where it remains today.

During its long history, Autumnia has gradually become more and more democratic, moving from an oligarchic republic to a universal suffrage representative democracy. It is one of few Fridgian countries to not have gone under any invasions, foreign occupations, coups, independence movements, or general government changes. This has resulted in an incredibly antiquated government system with many peculiar laws, making it a popular subject of internet trivia videos. 

The nation became reasonably wealthy from trading with the Citrus Kingdom, Cheeseograpean Empire, Bagelton, SORP, and Applia. These trade links became important in the late 100s, as the industrial revolution took place on Fridgia. When the steam engine was invented, Autumnia was the first country outside of the Citrus Kingdom to begin to use it. They began to construct a new city, to replace Gourd City. This was New Gourd City, and it became Fridgia's model industrial city. With the help of the occasional piece of SORP technology they acquired over the years, Autumnia became the third country in Fridgia to industrialize.

In modern times, Autumnia has continued to do its own thing, but has recently been pushed onto the world stage when Cheesemaggedon began and the UF headquarters was destroyed. Various world leaders and diplomats needed a place to meet in this time of crisis, and, since Pastia was so neutral that they would never let them meet there, they turned to Autumnia. Autumnia allowed the UF to hold an emergency meeting in New Gourd City, on the condition that they be allowed in.
