Democratic Metropolitan Area of Clementina

     The city of Clementina was founded many years ago, at the mouth of the Ligaf river. It was the only part of the Orange State on the mainland. In the area surrounding the city, there are a couple of smaller towns and villages. The region is surrounded by hills. In the year 369ma, the cheeses attempted to invade again, taking advantage of the citruses’ reputation for following rules. The cheeses knew how powerful their navy was, but since it was patrolling the entire coast of the Citrus Kingdom, it could not go to help without leaving other areas vulnerable to attack. The Citrus Kingdom did not have an air force, and Emperor Butter could not lend them his, and their army consisted of 4020 soldiers, 4000 of which were already in Clementina. The cheeses chose this day to invade because the day before, a law was passed that removed King Alex XVIIth’s control of the armed forces. For the Citrus Kingdom to send their army, or indeed anyone at all, would require a vote. This took a lot of time, and the Citrus Kingdom voted to take the issue to the UF, but by the time they did this the cheeses had already lost. The mayor of Clementina beat the cheeses by surrendering, using a part of their laws that said they had the right to declare independence whenever they wanted, and threatening the cheeses with bureaucratic processes if they did not leave. The cheeses left, filled out paperwork, and paid a fine. The citizens of Clementina then voted on whether they would return to the Citrus Kingdom, and decided not to. They became the first city-state in all of Fridgia (Not counting the Kingson of Bagelton, as the capital, Bajel, covers the island)

     The country has a population of 7 million, most of whom live in the main city, but some of whom live in nearby villages. The capital of Clementina is Clementina. It is populated by tangerines, clementines, and tangelos (a combination of a tangerine and grapefruit, not a tangerine and pomelo). The country’s official name is the Democratic Metropolitan Area of Clementina, or the DMAC. It is usually just called Clementina.
